Harmony is my 2009 theme. Instead of making New Year’s Resolutions I picked a theme to help guide me through my year. I love my theme so much that I think of it often and whenever I see the word I pause and pay special tribute to it.
The photo above was taken at the Center for Spiritual Living Women’s Retreat I went on a week ago. I had a beautiful time and it was an amazing experience.
One of the most powerful ways I’ve incorporated harmony into my life is when I’m driving. You see, it’s really easy for me to road rage. I know surprising isn’t it?! But, true. I’m often in a hurry with little to no patience for slow or idiotic drivers. Lately I’ve been asking myself, “How can I bring harmony to our roadways?” and I do live in a densely populated area. One of the ways I’ve began to live it is by saying out loud while I’m driving:
I am love.
I am loved.
I am loving.
It has really helped me find harmony in my travel time because it is impossible to road rage when you are full of love and allow it to flow through you. I know it’s made a difference in my life and I trust that it’s also made a difference in the lives of the people on the road with me.
Please do leave me a comment and let me know what you 2009 theme is and how you are living it.
Okay, so the truth is…my life has been crazy hectic for the past 2 weeks! I haven’t blogged. I haven’t followed up with potential clients. And I’ve even left some friends hanging. Ouch!
One of the up-sides of being so busy is that it’s forced me to get clear about my intentions and priorities. It’s also triggered some parts of me that get to go on snooze when everythings running smoothly and these parts definitely needed some time, love, and attention. Yes, they might feel uncomfortable and I’d rather have them on snooze, but I’m better off when all parts of me are cared for and nurtured.
Okay, I had no idea I was going to share that with you when I sat down to write. What I do want to share with you is something that’s really helped me process the stress. It is the perspective that life is S.IM.P.L.E. and when you stop to think about it…life truly is simple. It’s what we do with it that gets complicated. So here’s a handy dandy acronym to help you out whenever you get stressed out:
S.tep One ~ the next step is only one step I.magine ~ pretend that everything you need to do is already done: how did you do it all and how does it feel? M.atters most ~ ask yourself what matters most and give yourself permission to focus on it P.ause and pray ~ or meditate, center yourself, do nothing for 10 minutes, you get the picture L.et go ~ release the pressure, it doesn’t help and the world will not come to an end if you don’t do everything on your to-do list – in fact, no one else might not even notice! E.xpress gratitude ~ consistently choose to look through the eyes of thankfulness, wonder, and appreciation ESPECIALLY when it feels like your world is falling apart
I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Spring Fling by Viva La Diva last night. It was an amazing mix of networking, socializing, eating, drinking, and dancing. In fact, it’s a whole new way of networking that I simply adore! I don’t see any reason to network any other way. Here’s a blurb from their website:
Your $45 ticket includes a delicious buffet catered by the renowned Faz Restaurant, complimentary cocktail or beverage, Calypso music from www.LemoLive.com, live belly dancing, and a chance to meet EVERYBODY in our Speed Networking Session. We are also featuring a Sexy Shoe Fashion Show and Pole Dancing Demo from www.JewelSexpression.com.
And guess what? I got to model in the Sexy Shoe Fashion Show! It included a little trip around the pole and I am so surprised how powerful the experience was. I mean, think about it, how often do you walk through a room full of people, holding your head high, and flaunting your beautiful body?! It was exhilarating and empowering. I’m so grateful for the experience and now I’m going to share it with you! Watch this video to see me strut my stuff (I’m the second model):
You know that I love to post about God and spirituality. Well, if you like these topics too, then you absolutely must read The Shack by William P. Young. It offers an incredibly unique perspective about God, religion, and our relationships with both. Plus, it’s literary! It’s very well-written and the story is super intriguing – it’s about a father who’s daughter has been brutally murdered. Don’t worry I didn’t give anything away! The reader knows up front about the daughter, but it’s still a mysterious read. You’ve gotta read this book…in fact, even if you don’t believe in God. No wait, especially if you don’t believe in God!
For those of you who are regulars here, then you know that I’ve grappled with Christianity a lot in my lifetime. Well, this book has inspired me to look at Christianity in a whole new light and believe me, that is huge!
Here, I’ll make it real easy for you to buy the book on-line. Here’s a direct link to it on Amazon.com:

Yesterday I posted about how negative self talk keeps you stuck. Well, the crazy thing is…
…negative self talk is a natural part of being human.
What?! Well then how are you supposed to get over it? For starters, you don’t have to get over it all. The first step is to simply notice it.
Think about it. If you don’t know you are speaking to yourself like crap, then how the heck are you going to change it?
And when I say “simply notice” I don’t mean judge yourself for your self talk. Oh and by the way everyone who is humand and alive speaks to him/herself. It’s not just for the crazies.
The key here is that successful people aren’t wasting time beating themselves up. Nope. In fact, successful people spend time recognizing their efforts even when they fail. Yes, that’s right successful people fail. In fact, they probably fail more than most because they are putting themselves out there more.
So I encourage you to set an intention to notice how you speak to yourself. And watch what happens when you simply notice!
