Empowering Perspectives for the Holidays {part 2}
Here is a collection of perspectives I picked up at the Center for Spiritual Living through Pastor Dave’s last sermon. Although I have to tell you “sermon” doesn’t seem to describe the experience accurately. Sermon brings up an image of an old, white man behind a pulpit shouting condemnation along with a little spittle. Pastor Dave’s “sermon” is more like a performance. He’s so upbeat, entertaining, and spiritual. He delivers a powerful message of love and acceptance through humor and simple insights. Okay, here goes:
- Are you still hoping for a better past?
- That pie is already baked!
- Gratitude is proactive.
- “Get into the pot and I will save you,” God says to us {you really had to hear the rest of the story for this one to make sense!}
- What fits your schedule best?
- How do you make happiness a priority?
- A crisis is a bit of danger along with an opportunity.
- Integrity…not to shame, but to bring together, as in whole; cohesive.
- Practice your practice.
- It’s all God.
- 4 steps to move from breakdown to breakthrough:
- Breakdown {I like to think of this as break-it-down}
- See the Possibilities
- Take Action
- Breakthrough
- Go see the movie “Slum Dog Millionaire” all of his heartache & pain set him up for success.
- Walk towards the door that is open rather than clawing at the one that is closed.
I invite you to take some time right now to consider how each one of these perspectives can empower your holiday experience this season. Pick one or two that really resonates with you (or make one up of your own) and carry it with you as you drive through traffic, wait in line, work overtime, take a vacation, gather with family, and attend holiday functions. Your smile, your warm heart, and your words make such an impact on others. Make it a positive one.
