Need Your Help: who wants to live a heart-centered life?

I am in the process of writing a book proposal & I’m curious:

Is living from your heart a woman thing?

Or are there men out there who also want to learn how to live a heart-centered life?

Please comment your honest thoughts, opinions, and insights.

THANK YOU!

In this video {3:46} I share some surprising lessons from the 100 Things I Fear challenge. Like how I thought I would be facing the biggies {like picking a niche for my coaching practice!} and how beneficial it is to tune in to fear. What?! I know, it’s crazy right? Well, watch the video and please post your thoughts, experiences, and questions. I am loving connecting with you through this process.

VLOG: From Hate to Happiness Right Now

Although it didn’t make my 100 Things I Fear list today – it totally freaked me out to record on location. I was so excited about it and then I arrived and got all self conscious. It was so weird because I’m usually not shy about stuff at all.  But, I was in a public plaza with high rise buildings all around.  People who I couldn’t even see could have been watching…funny how I’m so willing to post my vid all over the net, but God forbid a stranger see me film!  I guess it’s a vulnerable place to be.  Yeah, it is a vulnerable place to be and I look forward to doing it again until it doesn’t freak me out at all.  Hey, maybe it will make my 100 Things I Fear list in the future!

Okay enough rambling, this video {3:06} is all about feeling better now even when you’re in a job you hate.  Check it out and let me know what you do.

Men are Heartless

thoughtfulness
“thoughtfulness” by lampelina

Men are heartless.

It’s a total lie. You know it. I know it. And yet, we continue to shun men who express their emotions. We label them as weak or homosexual. What an insult to men and the gay community.

So how do we go about creating an environment where men are accepted as the sentient beings we all are? I’m so glad you asked because I’ve got some great ideas!

First of all, as HGTV says, “start at home.”

Women…ask the men in your home how they are feeling and then stop talking and start listening.  Create a safe, quiet space for your men to open up in.  This doesn’t have to be long and involved.  I’m talking about a few minutes at a time.

Men…describe how you are feeling even if you don’t understand it.  This isn’t about solving a problem.  It’s only about giving words to what’s inside as a way to let it out.  This can be to your beloved, a friend, or even in your journal.  What? You don’t have a journal? Why not? Go out there and treat yourself to a book that’s all about you.

As you can see, I’m not talking about rocket science here.  I’m talking about giving a few minutes of time, energy, and attention to the often overlooked heart of a man.  Try these simple ideas and let me know how it goes. Did any challenges come up for you? Are you struggling to get started? Or do you have more ideas that you’d like to share? I’d love to hear about it.

What is your heart asking you to do?

Gracie and Her Favorite Blanky

Today I asked myself:

What is my heart asking me to do?

And here is the answer I received:

My heart is asking me to hibernate.  Don’t compare yourself to others.  Focus on nurturing yourself for now.  Non-action is heart action.  It’s only what you need for now.  It’s in the pause that you become open to receiving my wisdom.

As uncomfortable as this makes me, I know it is the right thing to do and today I let go of another layer of guilt.  I’m already on sabbatical and I give myself permission to relax through it.  It’s okay to stop trying and start allowing the answers to emerge.

So I’m curious…what is your heart asking you to do? or not do?!

p.s. Today on the Simply Fearless FB Fan Page I posted another awesome quote from my journal about beating yourself up. So if you are like me and find that self-criticism kicks in when you listen to your heart, then swing by and check it out.  Here’s the link.

Motivation Monday: Happiness is…

Every Monday, Michelle from the When I Grow Up Blog posts a motivational message.  Today’s is Happiness is… and I thought I’d answer in photos from our trip to New York:

Happiness is…

…letting your tongue hang out
Happiness is...

…letting The Hubs sit on your lap
Happiness is...

…sitting on The Hubs lap
Happiness is...

…putting your arm around your daughter
Happiness is...

…being playful
Happiness is...

…lovin’ your puppy whole heartedly
Happiness is...

…snuggling
Happiness is...

…laughing
Happiness is...

Visit the When I Grow Up Blog and post your own unique answer to what happiness is to you.

What’s your 2009 theme? And how are you living it?

DSC_0114

Harmony is my 2009 theme.  Instead of making New Year’s Resolutions I picked a theme to help guide me through my year.  I love my theme so much that I think of it often and whenever I see the word I pause and pay special tribute to it.

The photo above was taken at the Center for Spiritual Living Women’s Retreat I went on a week ago.  I had a beautiful time and it was an amazing experience.

One of the most powerful ways I’ve incorporated harmony into my life is when I’m driving.  You see, it’s really easy for me to road rage.  I know surprising isn’t it?! But, true.  I’m often in a hurry with little to no patience for slow or idiotic drivers.  Lately I’ve been asking myself, “How can I bring harmony to our roadways?” and I do live in a densely populated area.  One of the ways I’ve began to live it is by saying out loud while I’m driving:

I am love.

I am loved.

I am loving.

It has really helped me find harmony in my travel time because it is impossible to road rage when you are full of love and allow it to flow through you.  I know it’s made a difference in my life and I trust that it’s also made a difference in the lives of the people on the road with me.

Please do leave me a comment and let me know what you 2009 theme is and how you are living it.

Does Your Soul Need a Boost?

Today I woke up feeling spent.  My soul simply needed a boost.  So instead of going to the gym and working out, I decided to go on a photo expedition.  Here is the beauty I captured…

Harmony

Lily

Sparkle

Unfolding

I must say that I do feel so much more equipped to face my busy day.  And now I’m curious.  What do you do when you feel spent and need a boost?

Canine Lessons for Human Happiness

Gracie just got up from where she was sleeping so that she could curl up against my leg.  I love how consistently affectionate she is towards me.  Every time I walk into the room she runs up to me with such enthusiasm.  She always takes that extra step to be next to me.

It got me thinking.

How intentional are we with the people in our lives?

How consistently affectionate are we towards one another?

How excited do we get when someone we love enters the room?

So, today follow in Gracie’s paw prints and take that extra step to express your love and affection for those that mean most in your life.  And do it without expecting anything in return.  Do it simply to be the kind of person you want to be…

Loving

Kind

Affectionate

Sometimes all ya need is...
This is a photo I took of Gracie climbing up to give me kisses!
